How to Initiate a Return

  1. Complete the Form: You’ll need your order number (you can find it in your original purchase email). Can’t find it? No worries—just shoot us an email at support@stardateco.com.au and we’ll help you out!
  2. Ship It Back: After you’ve submitted the form, we’ll send you an email with all the details on how to return your items in their original packaging. Don’t forget to hang on to your proof of postage, just in case.

Refund or Exchange Once we’ve received and checked over your items, we’ll process your refund or exchange within 48 hours (Monday to Friday). Depending on your payment method and bank, refunds usually take up to 14 days to appear.

What are Stardate Candles made from?

Our Stardate Candles are hand-poured using an all-natural soy wax, fragrance oils and an all natural fibre wick for a beautiful clean burn.

You can also rinse, reuse or repurpose our premium glass jars as they make wonderful displays for bathroom goodies, flowers and even as a pencil holder on your desk.

What size are the candles?

We have the following sizes available:

  • 180g Zodiac Birthday Candle
  • 380g Zodiac Birthday Candle
  • 380g Star Sign Compatiblity Candle

180g Candles:

Capacity: Each candle is filled with 180g of soy-wax which allows it to have long, clean burn.

Burn Time: 25 - 30 hours

Dimensions: 9cm (d) x 10cm (h)

380g Candles:

Capacity: Each candle is filled with 380g of soy-wax which allows it to have long, clean burn.

Burn Time: 60-80 hours

Dimensions: 9cm (d) x 10cm (h)

The glass jar measurements are 10cm in height and 9cm in diameter making them the perfect size to display anywhere in your home or office.

How long will my candle last?

380g Candles:

Our Stardate Candles are designed to burn for 60-80 hours.

Be sure to trim your wicks before each burn and ensure that the first burn lasts for between 2-4 hours (until it reaches the edges of the glass) to ensure that it continues to burn evenly each time you light it. This will allow you to reach that higher end of the burn time range and get the most from your candles.

Where are Stardate candles made?

Our Stardate Candles are hand-poured in our studio in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Do you use fragrance oils or essential oils?

Stardate fragrance oils are synthetic in substance, in that they are not formulated directly from plant origin. Having said this, many of our fragrance oils do contain a high percentage of essential oils. 

Now, let's dive into why our fragrances are pretty fantastic:

  • All our scents follow the RIFM and IFRA standards, ensuring they're safe and pure.
  • These celestial scents are crafted right here in Australia.
  • Just so you know, we're all about compassion – none of our fragrances are tested on our furry friends. 🐾

Care Instructions

  • Keep wicks trimmed to 6mm to ensure you get a longer, cleaner burn.
  • Always burn on a suitable candle plate or similar surface.
  • Do not place candles on sensitive surfaces.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Never burn on or near flammable, heat sensitive or porous surfaces.
  • Never move while burning.
  • Do not place on or near electrical appliances.
  • Keep away from external heat sources.
  • Do not burn for longer than 3 - 4 hours. (380g candles)
  • Keep wax pool free of foreign matter and wick debris.
  • Keep out of draughts.
  • Use only a candle snuffer to extinguish.
  • Discontinue use when wax reaches 1cm from the bottom.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Personalising your Stardate Products

How can I add a name to my candle?

When viewing the product page for your selected candle birthdate, you will see a text box field on the page where you may enter the recipient's name.

Please enter it exactly how you'd like it appear on the candle. Most people opt for first name only but we can also include the last name.

Please note, only the first letter of the name will be capitalised and no special characters (i.e. emojis) can be included.

How do I personalise my custom gift card message?

You will be sent an email after your purchase to complete your gift wrap service personalisation options. You can include your personal message here and we will add it to your gift card.

Alternatively, there's a "note" section within your shopping cart where you can tell us your personal message. We see this and can add it from here.

I want a different fragrance, how do I change it?

Not your favourite fragrance? No worries! We want to ensure that your gift is exactly how you envision it. Visit our Fragrance page to see detailed descriptions of each scent.

To select an alternative, simply select your preferred scent option from the list on the specific candle product page. If one isn't selected, the "Default" fragrance will be used.

Please note, this is only an option during the ordering process, not after you've received your candle. To change your fragrance after you've received your order, please see our Stardate Scent Guarantee: 30-Day Money Back.

Can I remove the weaknesses from my candle label?

Of course! We want to ensure that your candle is personalised to your liking. If you would like the weaknesses removed, please let us know by including a note in your cart that is sent through to us with your order or reach out to us directly at hello@stardateco.com.au so we can customise your order.

We replace the weaknesses with 3 additional strengths to coincide with the updated design. You can provide these strengths to us (because you know the recipient really well!) or we can add three more from their astrology reading.

Can I add a personal message to the candle?

Of course! We have so many of our special stars requesting a "Happy 18th/21st/30th/40th/50th/605th Birthday" message on the candle and we're happy to accomodate.

We simply replace the section "The Day Of ..." with your "Happy 18th Birthday" message. This ensures the design isn't compromised and the recipients name remains clearly front and centre on the candle.

If you're after a gift-card message, please add our Gift Wrapping & Custom Gift Card product to your order and you'll be able to add a personal message there.

What if the birthday falls on a cusp?

Cusp birthdays can be a little tricky, and we design each candle based on the most commonly recognised zodiac sign for that date.

That said, we know many people resonate more with the other sign and we’re more than happy to personalise your candle to reflect that.

How do I qualify for free shipping?

Enjoy free shipping when you spend $115 AUD or more on our Stardate Candle ranges, including:

A quick note: Mini Candles (individual, not bundles) and gift wrapping aren’t included in the free shipping threshold.

What type of shipping options do you offer?

Receive FREE Standard Shipping Australia-wide when you spend over $115 on Stardate products in one order.

Our Stardate Candles are shipped using the Australia Post national postal system with both Standard and Express options available Australia-wide.

How can I track my order?

We want to be in the loop with your exciting Stardate delivery! When you proceed through our checkout, please enter your email address to receive tracking notifications.

We'll send you a copy of your Australia Post tracking number once your item has been dispatched. You'll then be able to use this number via the Shop app or Australian Post website. 

Do you offer express shipping?

We're only able to ship our candles Australia wide presently.

Where do you ship from?

All of our orders are dispatched from our office in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

What is FAST Dispatch? When do you dispatch?

Dispatch occurs 3x times per week; Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Ensure your orders are submitted before 12pm (AEST) on our dispatch days for same-day dispatch.

If your order is received after 12pm (AEST) on our dispatch days, your order will be shipping on the following dispatch day.

Please note, Australia Post does not deliver on weekends.

Returns, Exchanges & Damaged Items

What do I do if I received the wrong candle?

We're so sorry! Please email us as soon as possible at support@stardateco.com.au with your order number (begins with #STAR) and your parcel tracking number. Please include a brief description and an image of the items that were actually sent to you and we'll ensure we fix your issue asap.

What happens if my candle arrives damaged?

Please email our team at support@stardateco.com.au within 28 days of your dispatch date with photos of the damaged item, external packaging and a brief description of what occurred. We’ll guide you through the next steps from there.

Are Stardate orders insured during shipping?

Yes! All Stardate orders are automatically insured for up to $100 AUD through Australia Post in the event of transit damage involving broken glass.

Do I need to keep the packaging if my candle arrives broken?

Yes, please do. Australia Post requires all original packaging and damaged items to be retained for assessment purposes. Please do not dispose of anything until your claim has been reviewed.

Can Stardate process the Australia Post claim for me?

Unfortunately not. Due to Australia Post’s claims process, reimbursements must be processed directly with the recipient as the damaged parcel is in your possession. Once approved, you can simply place a replacement order on our website using the reimbursed funds.

My outer box arrived slightly damaged but the candle inside is fine. Is this covered?

Minor cosmetic damage to outer packaging where the candle vessel itself remains intact is not covered under Australia Post transit insurance. However, please still contact our team at support@stardateco.com.au if you have concerns and we’ll always do our best to help.

Can I return my candle if I change my mind?

We have recently introduced our Stardate 30-Day Money Back Guarantee which is a program designed to help take the stress out of selecting the right fragrance for your Stardate items. Please view our dedicated guarantee page to find out more.

I ordered the wrong date/name, what can I do?

Oh no! We understand that these things happen sometimes so we like to work with our customers to fix this up. Here are are couple of options:

After item has been shipped:

1. We print and send you a new label

If you're happy with the fragrance but the label is incorrect, we can print and send you a new label to affix to the candle itself. There is an additional charge of $5 for this service to cover costs and postage.

2. You may exchange the candle

You can return the candle to us and we can send the updated candle to you. You will incur the costs of postage and materials for this service. Delivery costs vary depending on your location so reach out to us directly.

Before item has been shipped:

If you're item has been ordered but not shipped (prior to 12pm on our dispatch days, Monday, Wednesday and Friday) there is a good chance we can simply update your order with the correct details. Reach out and ask ASAP!

Can I cancel my order?

If you wish to cancel your Stardate order after it has been placed, please contact us at support@stardateco.com.au or via our Contact page as soon as possible. We cannot cancel any orders that have been dispatched and shipped so you will incur the total costs of the candles delivered to you until you return the items provided they comply with our return policy.

Do you offer part payment options, like Afterpay and PayPal?

Yes, we offer flexible payment options to make gifting a little easier:

  • Afterpay is available on orders over $150 AUD
  • PayPal Pay in 4 is available for eligible PayPal accounts

We accept a range of secure and convenient payment options at checkout, including credit and debit cards, Shop Pay, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay - so you can choose whatever works best for you.

Gift-Wrapping & Custom Gift Card

How do I get my candle or diffuser gift-wrapped?

Simply tick the "Add Gift Wrapping & Custom Gift Card" option on your candle's product page and this will be added to your cart.

You can also add this directly from your shopping cart, you will see an option to "Add Gift Wrapping" to your order.

Please note, Gift-Wrapping and Custom Gift Card product is set at a cost per candle. If you have multiple candles and you would like each gift-wrapped, please increase the quantity in your cart.

I ordered more than 1 item but only want 1 gift-wrapped, how do I select which one?

When you select "Add Gift Wrapping & Custom Gift Card" on the candle's product page, the gift-wrapping service will be directly attributed to that item, not any others in your order.

If you simply add "Gift Wrapping & Custom Gift Card" from within the cart, please message us by leaving a "Note" in your cart to tell us which item you'd like gift wrapped, or email us directly at hello@stardateco.com.au

Is the gift-wrapping price per item or for my entire order?

The price listed for Gift-Wrapping & Custom Card within the gift-wrapping item in the cart is per item.

What size is the custom gift card?

The custom gift card is 8cm wide by 5 cm high (when folded). We will endeavour to fit your entire message in the hand-written gift card. Don't worry! We have the neatest hand writing.

What wrapping materials are used?

Our Stardate Gift Wrapping Service ensures that your candles are expertly wrapped in our Premium White Gloss Wrapping paper with our beautiful coloured satin ribbons, tied in a delightful bow. Your gift cards are slid in the top to make them easily accessible to both you and the gift recipient.

How do I tell you what message to include in the gift card?

When you purchase our Gift Wrapping Service, you're automatically sent an email to complete a form detailing your Personalisation Preferences.

Here you'll be able to include your personal message and we will hand-write it in the card for you.

If you'd rather write the personal message yourself, that's totally fine! Simply write "Blank" in the field and we'll send you the blank card to complete at your convenience.

Stardate Gift Cards: Buying

Is this a digital or physical gift card?

All Stardate Gift Cards are digital. We don't post a physical card. Instead, your gift card is delivered to your email inbox within minutes of purchase. From there, you can forward it to your intended gift recipient, print it if you want something to hand over in person, or save it to your phone to share when the moment is right.

Will anything be posted to me or the gift recipient?

No. Stardate Gift Cards are delivered by email only. Nothing will be posted, and there are no shipping fees on gift card purchases.

When does the gift card arrive?

Within a few minutes of your order being placed. It comes to the email address you provide at checkout. From there, you can forward it to your lucky gift recipient whenever you're ready.

Can I send it directly to the gift recipient on a specific date?

Not yet - we're working on it. For now, the gift card comes to your inbox so you can forward it to them with your own message at the moment you choose.

What if I don't know their star sign?

Choose the Universal design. It's unmistakably Stardate, just without the sign-specific styling. You'll never have to guess and get it wrong.

What can they use the Gift Card on?

Anything on our stardateco.com.au website, including Zodiac Birthday Candles, bundles, miniatures, and any future ranges we launch unless expressly stated. The value can also cover shipping fees, so there's no burden to your special someone when they're picking out a gift.

What if their order is less than the gift card value?

The remaining balance stays on the card for next time. They can use it across multiple purchases until the balance runs out.

What if their order is more than the gift card value?

They simply pay the difference at checkout using any standard payment method.

How long is the gift card valid for?

Three years from the date of purchase. The expiry date is displayed on the gift card itself.

Can it be used with discount codes?

Yes. Gift cards stack with discount codes and promotional offers, unless a specific promotion says otherwise.

Can I get a refund on a gift card?

Gift cards are non-refundable once purchased. Please choose the denomination carefully before completing your order.

Stardate Gift Cards: After You've Purchased

I bought a gift card but haven't received the email yet - what should I do?

Gift cards are usually delivered within a few minutes of purchase. If it's been longer than 15 minutes and you haven't received it, please check your spam, junk, and promotions folders first as automated emails sometimes land there. If you still can't find it, email us at support@stardateco.com.au with your order number and we'll resend it to you via the email address listed on your order.

The email arrived but it's gone to me, not the recipient. Is that right?

Yes, that's how our gift cards work. The gift card comes to the email address you used at checkout, so you can forward it to the recipient with your own message at the moment you choose. We don't currently send gift cards directly to recipients on a scheduled date, but it's something we're working on.

How do I forward the gift card to the recipient?

The simplest way is to forward the email itself. The email contains the gift card design, the code, the balance, and a link to view the card. You can also copy the code and the link into a separate message by text, in a card, or however you'd like to share it.

I made a mistake on my order - wrong denomination or wrong zodiac design. Can I change it?

Once a gift card is issued, the denomination and design can't be changed, and gift cards are non-refundable. If you contact us at support@stardateco.com.au immediately after purchase (and before forwarding the gift card to the recipient), we'll do our best to help where we reasonably can, though we can't guarantee a change. Please review your selection carefully before completing checkout.

Can I print the gift card to give in person?

Yes. The gift card design is included in the email, so you can print the email or save the gift card image and print it on its own. Many of our buyers print the card and slip it into a handwritten note or birthday card, which makes the moment feel more tangible.

I bought the gift card for a specific occasion - can you tell me when they redeem it?

Unfortunately, we can't notify you when the gift card is redeemed. The recipient redeems it directly at checkout when they're ready, and that activity isn't shared back to the original buyer.

Does the recipient's order get gift-wrapped automatically?

No. Our gift wrapping is a separate add-on at checkout. If the recipient wants the candle gift-wrapped (perhaps because they're using your gift card to gift the candle on to someone else), they can add gift wrapping to their order at checkout.

Stardate Gift Cards: For Gift Card Recipients

I just received a Stardate Gift Card - what is this?

Welcome to Stardate! We're a personalised gifting brand based in Australia, and someone who knows you (and thinks your a SUPERSTAR!) has chosen to give you the candle made just for you. It showcases your name, your birthday, your star sign, your scent, and an astrological reading written for exactly who you are based on the day you were born. Your gift card is your invitation to choose. Head to our homepage to start your journey, find the candle that's yours, and enter your gift card code at checkout so we can send you your special gift.

How do I use my gift card?

When you're ready to choose, visit our website at stardateco.com.au and add your candle (or anything else) to cart. At checkout, you'll see a field to enter your gift card code. The amount on your card will be applied to your order, and if the total is less than your balance, the rest stays on the card for next time.

Where is my gift card code?

Your code is in the email you were forwarded by your generous gift giver, one that was originally sent to them from Stardate. It's also visible on the gift card landing page if you click the link in the email. If you can't find either, ask the person who sent it to you as they have access to the original email and can resend or forward it again. If they no longer have access to the email, please ask them to contact support@stardateco.com.au for assistance.

Can I check my gift card balance?

Yes. The gift card link in your delivery email shows your current balance. If you've lost the original email, please contact us at support@stardateco.com.au with the gift card code or the name of the person who sent it to you, and we'll help you check.

Can I use my gift card across more than one order?

Absolutely. Your balance stays on the card after each purchase until it runs out or until the card expires. You can place multiple orders over time using the same gift card.

Can I use my gift card with a discount code?

Yes. Gift cards can be combined with discount codes and promotional offers, unless a specific promotion says otherwise. The gift card is treated as a payment method, not a discount.

I'm not in Australia - can I still use my gift card?

Stardate ships within Australia only, so your gift card can be used to send a Stardate candle to any Australian address. If you're overseas, you can still browse and choose, but the order needs to be delivered to an Australian recipient.

My gift card isn't working at checkout - what should I do?

First, check that the code is entered correctly. Gift card codes are case-sensitive and don't contain spaces. The character that looks like a zero is always a zero, never a capital O. If the code still isn't working, please email us at support@stardateco.com.au with the code (or a screenshot of your delivery email), and we'll look into it.

I lost the email with my gift card. Can you resend it?

If you have the gift card code, please email support@stardateco.com.au and we can confirm the balance and resend the gift card details to the original purchaser's email. Please contact the person who sent the gift card to you - they can forward the email to you again.

Please note, this process is designed to keep the gift cards safe and secure. We aren't able to send gift card details to any recipient (even if intended) unless their email address is listed with the order.

I think someone has used my gift card without permission. What should I do?

Please contact us immediately at support@stardateco.com.au with the gift card code and any details you have. Like cash, gift cards should be treated carefully as once they've been delivered to the email address provided at purchase, we can't replace or refund them if they're used without authorisation. However, we'll always investigate suspected unauthorised use and assist where we reasonably can.

I returned a candle that I bought with a gift card. Where does the refund go?

Refunds for products purchased with a gift card are issued back to the original gift card, restoring the corresponding balance. The restored balance keeps the original expiry date and isn't extended. For partial gift card payments (where you also paid with a credit card or other method), the refund is split proportionally between the two payment methods.

I bought a candle and my gift card balance was applied, but my candle was damaged in transit. What now?

Damaged products are handled separately under our Refund Policy, which may entitle you to a direct replacement or refund regardless of how you paid. Please contact us at support@stardateco.com.au with photos of the damage and your order number, and we'll resolve it for you.

The recipient's order is less than the gift card amount and they don't want anything else. Can they get the difference in cash?

No. Gift cards can't be exchanged for cash, only redeemed for products on our website. Any remaining balance stays on the card and can be used for future orders until the card expires.

Can I transfer my gift card to someone else?

You can give your gift card to another person as a gift, free of charge, that's how gift cards work. However, gift cards can't be resold, traded, or transferred for value through any third-party marketplace or commercial means. Cards obtained through unauthorised resale may be voided.

Can I add to my gift card balance later?

No, our gift cards can't be reloaded or topped up. Each gift card is issued at a fixed denomination at the time of purchase. If you want to give more, you can purchase an additional gift card and forward it separately, or apply multiple gift cards to a single order at checkout (up to three per order).

Can I use my gift card on shipping fees?

Yes. Gift cards can be used to cover shipping costs, taxes, and any other charges applied at checkout, not just the cost of the products themselves.

My gift card has a small balance left that's not enough for a full product. What can I do?

Use it as a partial payment on your next order. The remaining balance counts toward whatever you're buying, and you pay the difference using another payment method. Even small balances can go toward shipping or any Stardate product.

What are Stardate Miniature Candles?

Stardate Miniature Candles are our 35g mini scented candles, crafted in our core 12 luxurious celestial fragrances. They’re designed for sampling or gifting, allowing you to explore the entire Stardate range or create a custom mini candle gift set of your own.

What size are the Miniature candles?

The black tin measurements are 5cm (d) x 3cm (h) (or 4cm (h) with lid) making them the perfect size to sample our incredible fragrance range and really understand if you like the scent.

As they are miniature candles, it's best to keep them in a smaller room if you'd like to use them to fragrance a space.

What can they be used for?

These miniature candles are ideal for scent sampling, creating ambience in smaller spaces, or gifting. You can mix and match scents for a personalised experience, or enjoy our curated scent sets for a journey through all 12 fragrances. Our curated sets are designed to explore the elements pertaining to the zodiac signs; Fire, Water, Air and Earth. You can also purchase our entire range with our Scent Set.

How long does each Stardate Miniature burn?

Our mini candles are small but mighty! Each 35g Stardate Miniature has an approximate burn time of 8-10 hours. Perfect for sampling scents or setting a cosy vibe without a long commitment.

Can I mix different fragrances in one order?

Absolutely! You’re in control of the cosmic mix. Feel free to pick any combination and any quantity of our 12 celestial core fragrances to create a sample set tailored to your tastes or someone special.

What's the difference between creating my own set and choosing a curated Miniature Candle Set?

With “Create Your Own Mini Candle Set,” you can hand-select each fragrance to suit your mood or preferences or sample a few that you think your special someone might like.

Our Curated Mini Candle Gift Sets: Fire, Water, Earth & Air, on the other hand, are themed collections we've carefully designed based on the element associated with each sign to make it easier to select one that is different to the default but will likely still be enjoyed by your gift recipient.

Of course, if you really can't decide, the Scent Set is just for you. It includes 1x of each of our 12 celestial Stardate fragrances so you can try them all!

Are these mini candles scented as strongly as the full-sized versions?

Great question! For the best experience, trim the wick to 5mm before each burn, let the candle burn long enough to melt the wax evenly across the top (usually about an hour), and avoid burning for more than 1-2 hours at a time. This way, you’ll enjoy the full lifespan of each mini scented candle!

For the best results, with your first burn, blow out the candle once the wax melt has reached the edges and let it harden. Then do the same with each subsequent burn and it’ll likely last even longer.

First Burn: Allow the candle to burn until the entire surface is melted—typically about 1 hour. This helps prevent tunnelling.

Burn Time: Keep each burn session between 1-2 hours to extend the candle's life.

When to Discontinue Use: For safety, stop burning when about 5mm of wax remains at the bottom.
